Killington VT wall mural

I had the pleasure of helping my brother John B move up to Killington this winter to pursue his love of snowboarding and become an instructor on the mountain. While in town I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by some amazing people who were more than supportive of me as an artist. So I did what any artist in good company would do, I created a lot of art on my visit. I did a portrait, sketchbook
journaling, tattoos on friends with markers, drawings on snowboard helmets, custom designed boxes and to top it all off an impromptu wall mural in my brothers apartment. My favorite part of this mural? Well of course it's the feeder fish following our friend the shark pictured below. Sorry about the less than great quality of the images but all I had was my phone to capture this one…..

Sharpie Markers

It's no surprise that I love Sharpie Markers. I'm always interested in what they've come out with recently to make my life as an artist easier and more fun. I was searching their website for new products and I came across their sketchpad. It's generally just like the one that I have on this site but the markers have a transparency to them which is awesome. It's just like drawing with the real thing…..I drew a quick image to show you what it does….

We've finally arrived at the last installment of the Gilgo beach murals. In the past two years myself and a handful of other Long Island Muralists have covered a once vandalized tunnel leading to the beach at Gilgo with beautiful murals for all to enjoy. The Ocean Project was initially conceptualized by Chris Kluesener from Thrust Surfwear along with the Surfrider Foundation to bring awareness to keeping our beaches and ocean clean.

This year we're going to be panting the North side of the tunnel which spans 115 feet in total. Kevin Corcoran and I are tackling a 30 foot section of that wall this year. We're creating our most ambitious mural to date so come down and join us. I've seen the comp for the other murals and it looks like we're going to have a great showing for the north wall. Make sure you stop by and say hello. Just listen for the rattling of spray paint cans and you'll find me…..

SOHO Carousel Horse

I was out on the town the other night in SOHO, NYC and walked past numerous little boutique shops with amazing displays in their windows. This is just one of them. I found this carousel horse beautiful and thought you might like to see it as well. Enjoy!!

Vector Illustration: Cephalopod Warrior

Been coming up with these random illustrations lately using Adobe Illustrator. I never thought I would enjoy drawing in that program but I'm starting to understand things to the point that I see great potential. This character was built with movable body parts which will allow me to animate him in Flash, a project that I'll be embarking on soon. Stay tuned for that. For now here is the ever so static yet ready for motion CEPHALOPOD WARRIOR…….

This is a doodle. There are many like it but this one is mine. I randomly enjoy letting the pen move on the page while looking observantly to see what begins to form. I then add more continuous line to bring those objects to life. I find the characters that evolve from a process like this one very interesting. There's a story in there I tell ya…….

Fall Festival Review….

2 days in the shade, lot's of compressed air, screenprints a flowing, our artwork on display, a whole bunch of people and a great time had by all. I didn't get to see that much of the festival myself but I did a lot of airbrushing and talking to people that stopped by our booth ( that's Kevin Corcoran and I ).I'd like to personally thank everyone we met for hanging out with us and for all the positive feedback that you gave on the artwork. It was a great experience. The following is a list of 7 things I learned over the weekend at the Fall Festival in Huntington….

1. The sound of a festival is confusingly soothing. Since I was outside the park on vendor row with my back to the festival I didn't really get to see the festival with all the rides but I did get to hear it…..It was interesting to hear just the sound of it without the visual. It was soothing in a chaotic sort of way. 2. People love t-shirts….If you've ever been to Threadless.com you'll see that it must be true. Threadless has been very successful due to that very principle….I was able to design a bunch of tshirts over the weekend and was fortunate enough to sell most of them. Here's a picture of a happy customer with one of my favorites from the festival….

3. You can pack a lot of stuff into the back of a pickup truck....Here's Kevin with our best "Pack your truck like Sanford and Son" rendition. This is what the truck looked like on our way to set up the festival on the first day. I promise that by the end of the second day we had packing that truck down to a science. There are no pictures to support this so you'll just have to take my word on that....

4. If your airbrushing at a festival and you run out of CO2, compressed gas to airbrush with there's a company on Long Island that runs an emergency CO2 delivery service. Can you imagine that? They saved my weekend twice...Thank you "Long Island Beverage"......for all you do this pimpin ride's for you.....

5. People will ask you to paint them some interesting things.....On this particular occasion I was asked to bring someone's vision to life for them. She called it "The 4 Elements." Jenna talked me through her vision while I painted. It was awesome to be able to bring her vision to life and she really loved it which was the icing on the cake. Thanks Jenna for trusting me with your vision and for snapping some great shots of the shirt in progress.....

6. Screen Printing's cool.....Kevin and I made our first successful efforts towards making screen prints and I intend to exercise my right as an artist to explore it in many forms from here on out......more on that soon....Here's the first screen print Kevin and I made. Can you say lot's of t-shirt designs coming real soon boys and girls?

7. And finally I leave you with this........I learned that Anything you do that makes a child happy, ( even something as simple as airbrushing their name on a t-shirt ) is worth more money than the world has to offer. There were numerous children that I had the honor of painting for over the weekend and each one of them brought a little bit of beauty to the day. The joy it brought to their faces to have something special made just for them was nothing short of PRICELESS. I can't wait to do it again. Viva la festival........
