Here's one of the illustrations that I did when I was on the farm. There are about 9 more spot illustrations like this one that I'll put into a later blog post. I feel like I learned quite a bit about drawing structural items, as in buildings, and inanimate objects in general when I was doing these illustrations. Usually things that have mechanical structure seem to be a little hard to grasp. I think we generally try to draw them "architecturally perfect" which in my opinion can suck the life right out of the drawing and out of the object being drawn. I feel that I was successful in allowing not only the drawing to have life but the structure as well. It's kind of like a caricature but without the gross exaggeration that you would normally associate with it. I feel like the drawing and the object have both been allowed to breath. Town Farm

Located in Ledyard, Ct there sits an old farm house that two of my friends are revitalizing and reopening as an organic farm this year. Together we're working on a logo, and some tshirt designs for the upcoming season. I spent about 4 days drawing around the farm and creating art to jump start the creative process. Here's one of the pieces that I made on a piece of wood. It's a great old fence that they have and probably one of my favorite visual aspects of the farm.

The drawing was done with a Bic pen which works really well on wood…
