Brooklyn Wall Mural

Upon the roof of my gallery there's a huge wall that was looking too bare and just needed a little love. Armed with some house paint and an assortment of spray cans we decided to make something more eye pleasing on the wall. This mural, like most collaborative work I've done with Kevin, was an improvisational effort. We had a few things in mind to guide us. We wanted it to have warm tones and feel a little bit dated as if it had been there for a while. We achieved this feeling with the colors that we used. Usually subject matter and color are two good ways to keep you on track when your creating something in an improvisational manner. Here's the sequence of images on how this mural came to be…..

Surfs up in Brooklyn..

The Habitat www.thehabitatbrooklyn.com (aka. the bar below my gallery) was putting on a Summer Solistice party and needed some props for the set decoration of the interior. They didn't need to turn too far or do much convincing when they said they needed some surfboards created and designed for the festivities…
Kevin made the surfboards out of foam and we painted them with with acrylic paints. Easy props….

Here's a figure study that I did which looks like it belongs to one of these surfboards. As if she was taking in some sun while laying on the beach next to her favorite board…….

Creative Social and Live Figure Drawing

Announcung a new event twist to our normal figure drawing. Friday night social in Greenpoint Brooklyn with live figure drawing. Draw, Drink and Link up with fellow creatives, friends, a meeting of the minds if you will. Who cares if cash is low, that just means we now have to opportunity to be more social and to commune on a more human level without the distractions of material things. Yes some things are better in a slowing economy. Come hang with us and enjoy the evening. $15 to draw. This is a BYOB event. We have a very social space at THECEEFLAT Gallery and we want you to come enjoy it with us…….

Back in June, myself and fellow artist Kevin Corcoran decided to move into Brooklyn in search of greater exposure to the art world of New York City…..We were looking for a loft space to do some light rennovation…What we didn't realize at the time was that the project we were embarking on would be anything but light and that 6 months of building, design, and cooperative creation would yield such an amazing entity. We've created a loft, a studio, and a Gallery in one of the hottest markets of NY. We're proud to announce the Grand Opening of…………

The 4th at THECEEFLAT

I'm still very hard at work building my loft/gallery. Got a chance on the 4th of July to relax up on the roof with some new friends from the neighborhhod and catch the Grucci Fireworks display over the east river. To say that the view was awesome would be an understatement. Next year there's gonig to be a huge party at the flat for the 4th. Who's coming?……………
