Here are a few figure studies that I recently completed of Jazz…

I was concentrating on distortion and bone structure with this image.

I chose this one because it's something I'm working on, which is just painting while working from the model. That is no mediums that are generally used for drawing, ie: markers, pens, oil pastels etc……Just acrylic paint and a few brushes. This page was prepared before painting this image with a solid green background. "Killing the white of the background like that helps you to work with paint a little better. It basically creates a mood that you can then place your figure into.

I really love the way this one came out. It reminds me of an old USO poster, or something that would have promoted Coney Island. It just has that 40's/50's feel to it mostly I suspect because of the color.

In this image, as opposed to the last two, I'm using drawing as well as painting. There are many things that I like about this but mainly the distortion through the page and the complexity of the angles in which body parts are moving. The stockings might have caught my attention as well.

I've been drawing Amy for over 5 years now and you would think that drawing the same person over and over would become redundant after some time. In some cases that is true but Amy brings something new to each and every modeling session she's a part of. She always has a unique wardrobe for each session and she believes that each and every pose should have attitude. I think that about sums it up. This is why I love drawing Amy and I think it shows in these images….

Anjela is a dancer and an awesome figure model. Besides being very comfortable modeling she's also very concerned with creating dynamic poses that have a unique feeling to them. When a model goes that extra bit to create something interesting it pushes me, as the artist, to enhance my sense of graphics and vision resulting in something theatrical and theatrics always make for good pictures…..

Above all I like the muted color palette, the aspect of painting in this image and of course her hair which is just lovely to draw…..

Jazz is an extremely dynamic dancer that also does some modeling. We were lucky enough to have her come pose for us recently and here's a few studies that I did…

Here's a couple of drawings of Theda-b done in a fashionable sort of style. Sometimes long features deserve long drawings. I find it interesting to take certain characteristics that stand out to me about a model and accentuate them, almost like a caricature. I guess you could call it Theatrics and that usually works in a drawing especially when it's something that excites you as the artist. Those things come through in the finished drawing and lend it a life inspired by inspiration….

This image was drawn from a model named Kayla. I loved the shape that her body encompassed when she took this pose and decided to draw her from an overhead perspective. I enjoy the subtle colors in the skin. This image is not yet finished but shall be soon…..
